Head of Sales, Canada Wholesale
Purpose:
To lead and execute the business strategy for the Canadian sales organization taking into consideration the market, retailers and consumer insights balanced against adidas long-term commercial objectives.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and execute the Wholesale strategic plan for Canada, ensuring alignment with consumer needs, market dynamics and the broader North America strategy.
- Establish and execute strategic account plans that support the overall country strategy while addressing key differences in account positioning and consumer types.
- Manage P&L for Canadian Wholesale business, ensuring profitable growth and operational efficiency across all accounts.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key retail partners, influencing and executing strategic direction with major accounts
- Collaborate with product, brand, and sports marketing teams to ensure winning concepts are developed and brought to the market, while driving sales input on range segmentation for wholesale and specific accounts within the channel
- Monitor and analyze business performance across accounts, identifying growth opportunities, optimizing product and pricing opportunities and addressing any shortcomings in sales expectations.
- Build deep expertise in regional and national market trends and consumer preferences, offering strategic insights to inform decision-making and positing the brand for success in Canada.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing sales team, ensuring clear objectives, strong leadership development, and a culture of accountability.
- Cultivate a culture of performance, a strong leadership bench, and high performing team.
- Ensure organizational efficiency through effective motivation, coaching and development.
- Execute key initiatives and projects driven by the SVP of Wholesale, ensuring alignment with global priorities while tailoring execution for the Canadian market.
- Act as a role model in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations as well as the adidas Fair Play Code of Conduct and other internal policies
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of the Canadian wholesale market, including key accounts, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
- Expert knowledge of the industry and market trends, and the ability to tie merchandise plan into forecast and execute accordingly.
- Proven ability to drive sales growth, revenue planning, and margin optimization within a wholesale environment.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with key retailers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and provide a framework for a high-performing sales team
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, and the ability to capitalize on and apply these skills, resulting in the growth and development of sales managers, representatives, and the region.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze sell-in/sell-through data, market trends, and financial reports to make informed decisions.
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills with both internal and externals parties. Ability to think strategically, define business opportunities and problems, collect, interpret and analyze abstract and concrete information, and create strategic, value-add solutions.
- Ability to deliver effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to diverse audiences
- Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, product, and operations teams to align business objectives.
- Ability to cope with change, make decisions and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty.
- Proven experience working with business deadlines
Qualifications:
- Four-year college or university (or equivalent amount of relevant professional experience)
- 8-10 years’ experience with sales or marketing management with a multinational consumer goods company, preferably in apparel, fashion, shoes or fast-moving consumer goods
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team
