Staff Accountant
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
Corporate Accounting supports the analysis and recording of accounting transactions, assists in resolving accounting issues, collaborates with business partners, and helps ensure the integrity of adidas Canada’s financial records. Furthermore, this role will act as an interlink between our Global Business Services function and various business & finance functions here in NAM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare/post journal entries in collaboration with GBS Team as needed.
- Perform GL line items analysis of transactions in SAP as required.
- Prepare/review/approve the assigned Balance Sheet Reconciliations as needed
- Provide support in other areas of accounting, as required.
- Code domestic & foreign purchases, freight, duties, taxes and other invoices to proper GL accounts.
- Prepare/review accruals for outstanding expense, utilities, freight, or duty invoices, for month end closing.
- Reconciliation of vendors to statement and intercompany balances.
- Responsible for executing cheque runs, EFT payments and bank enquiries on payments as needed.
- Timely payment of taxes and keeping track of payments made for taxes e.g., sales tax, withholding tax, corporate taxes.
- Support in processing and validating regular overhead and workflow invoices.
- Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with Logistics, Finance, Tax and other departments
- Support during external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and bridge to connect the appropriate team members.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication, interpersonal and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office; knowledge of SAP is an asset.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Good knowledge of general accounting rules (IFRS/ local GAAP) and experience with auditors and year end closing
- Eagerness to learn, adaptable, and proactive in problem-solving.
- Must be proactive, have strong initiative and be self-motivated.
- A team player and relationship builder that excels while working with diverse groups of people in an ambiguous environment
- Intellectually curious with a bias for action
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University or College degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–2 years of accounting or finance experience
